Cikarang Industrial Park of West Java, Indonesia
Haier established its first Southeast Asian manufacturing facility in 1996 in the Cikarang Industrial Park of West Java, Indonesia. Initially focused on refrigerators and washing machines, it was one of Haier’s earliest manufacturing projects in the region.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances (Thailand) Co., Ltd., commissioned in March 2008 at the Amata City Industrial Estate in Rayong, Thailand, is a wholly owned F&P factory that produces refrigerator, dishwasher, and cooking products.

Zhang Ruimin, a member of the Communist Party of China, was born in 1949 in Laizhou, Shandong Province. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Science and Technology of China. As the founder of Haier, he is also the creator of the Rendanheyi Model and the concept of ecosystem brands, and has been recognized as one of the world’s 50 most influential management thinkers. He was a delegate to the 14th through 19th National Congresses of the Communist Party of China and was consecutively elected as an alternate member of the 16th, 17th, and 18th Central Committees of the CPC.
Over more than three decades of entrepreneurship, Zhang Ruimin has led Haier from a small, collectively-owned factory on the verge of bankruptcy to a globally renowned home appliance brand, and pioneered the creation of ecosystem brands worldwide. His insights into corporate management have evolved into a systematic management philosophy—the Rendanheyi Model. His continuous innovation in management practices has drawn significant attention and acclaim from both domestic and international management communities. World-renowned strategist Gary Hamel once praised him as a representative CEO of the Internet era.
In November 2015, Zhang Ruimin was invited to London to attend the Thinkers50 Awards, the world’s most influential management thinker ranking event, where he received the Ideas into Practice Award—becoming the first and only Chinese entrepreneur to win this honor. Life Experience
- In March 1984, he became Deputy General Manager of the Qingdao Household Appliance Industry Company and served as the project leader responsible for introducing foreign refrigerator manufacturing technology to the Qingdao Refrigerator Factory, the predecessor of Haier Group. On December 26, he was appointed Director of the Qingdao Refrigerator Factory and formulated Haier’s first development strategy—the “Brand Strategy.”
- In 1985, he made a decisive move by smashing 76 defective refrigerators, an incident that became a landmark moment in the history of Chinese and even global enterprise management, later known as the “Refrigerator-Smashing Incident.”
- In December 1988, he led Haier to win the first-ever national quality gold medal in the history of Chinese refrigerators.
- In 1990, under his leadership, Haier received the national “Golden Horse Award” for enterprise management and the “National Quality Management Award.”
- In December 1991, Haier Group was established. He became President and formulated Haier’s second development strategy—Diversification.

- In May 2000, he became CEO of Haier Group, the first CEO in China’s home appliance industry. He attended the 30th World Economic Forum in Davos and later wrote the article “My Views on the New Economy,” marking the beginning of his systematic thinking on enterprise management in the new economy era. He was also invited to speak at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.

- In 2008, he pioneered the zero-inventory “On-Demand Production and Supply” strategy, effectively eliminating warehouses and helping Haier withstand the global financial crisis with minimal impact.
- In 2009, he was invited to the 18th Sino-Foreign Management Forum, where he discussed the essence of sustainable business management with Kazuo Inamori, founder of Kyocera.
- In 2010, in the United States, he exchanged views with world-renowned management scholars Michael Porter and Gary Hamel on Haier’s “Rendanheyi” model and the innovation of self-managed micro-enterprises.
- In 2011, as a representative witness and participant in China’s reform and opening-up, he was interviewed for the major documentary The Banner. He also led Haier’s acquisition of the Sanyo white goods business in Japan.
- In 2012, he attended the 18th CPC National Congress for the fifth time as a Party delegate and was again elected an alternate member of the CPC Central Committee. He also formulated Haier’s fifth development strategy—Networked Management.
- In 2013, he was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM), becoming the only entrepreneur speaker at the event.
- In 2014, he delivered a keynote speech for the third time at the Wharton Global Forum. The leading business magazine Strategy+Business published a feature story titled “Remembering the Chinese Philosopher — Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin.”
- In 2015, he delivered a keynote speech at the “10th Anniversary of the Rendanheyi Model & the 2nd Haier Global Business Model Innovation Forum,” systematically presenting Rendanheyi 2.0—an ecosystem of co-creation and win–win outcomes. He was the only Chinese entrepreneur invited to speak at the Seventh Drucker Global Forum. He was included in the Thinkers50 list and received the “Ideas into Practice Award.”

Li Huagang serves as Chairman & President of Haier Smart Home Co., Ltd.
Mr. Li joined Haier in 1991 after graduating from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Over his career, he has led key functions across the Refrigerator Business, national sales and commercial distribution, including roles as Project Manager, Regional Sales Head, General Manager for multiple distribution companies, and Sales General Manager of the Refrigerator Electrical Business Unit.
He earned an EMBA from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in 2014. He was appointed General Manager of Haier Smart Home China in 2015; Chief Executive Officer of Haier Electronics in 2017; General Manager (later President) of Haier Smart Home in 2019/2021; and Chairman of the Board of Haier Smart Home in 2022, concurrently serving as President.
Mr. Li has received multiple recognitions, including Model Worker of Qingdao (2008), Qingdao Top Talent (2018) and Top 10 Brand Person of the Year (2019). In 2021, he was awarded the Senior Professional Title Certificate of Shandong Province and accredited as a Senior Engineer.
